    This year’s concert, features an all-star line-up of dignitaries, actors and musical artists including General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) who will lead the nation in reminding us all of the true meaning of Memorial Day; as well as performances by country music sensation and multiple CMA and Grammy award-winning artist Lee Ann Womack; Academy Award-winning actress Dianne Wiest; distinguished actor Joe Mantegna, Gary Sinise, and Charles Durning, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; country music sensations Big & Rich; and acclaimed opera singer Frederica Von Stade; in performance with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Erich Kunzel. The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff will play a special role in the concert along with the U.S. Army Chorus and Army Chorale, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, U.S. Navy Sea Chanters, as well as an Armed Forces Color Guard and color guard teams from branch of the armed services provided by the Military District of Washington. This year’s concert, featuring uplifting musical performances, documentary footage and dramatic readings, will pay a special tribute to the "citizen soldiers" of the National Guard and their families at home. The concert is free and is broadcast LIVE over national public television.
